Julträdet (prototype)

(2024)

A prototype of a Christmas tree – inspired by the unique folk art tress from Blekinge. The tree was designed as a part of the project Kulturarvsdesign and was showcased at Blekinge Museum in the summer of 2024.

The prototype is a modern take on a Christmas tree — inspired by the unique folk art trees from Blekinge and their imaginative motifs, but here stylized in aluminum with cleaner lines to fit more contemporary homes. Simply put, it's a suggestion for how the local tradition can continue to live on and evolve.

The Christmas tree consists of flat building components that, when threaded together, form a three-dimensional tree. The tree is intended to be seen as a "base structure" where you can choose whether to decorate with the included parts or personalize it with your own decorations in the cut-out slots. This is to continue inspiring imagination, creativity, and personal traditions.
The prototype is available in both white lacquered and untreated aluminum, and the tree's components are designed to minimize waste material during the manufacturing process. Any packaging can also be made completely flat and material-efficient.
